valentine dinner recipes - location and setting the scene

Ambience is the name of the game here.

You can have a stunning valentine dinner recipes lined up, but if you are planning to sit on the sofa in front of the TV, that's hardly romantic!

Here we are going to look at improving this, so that your date will go exceptionally well...

A thought... don't forget to bring some flowers!

So not having TV dinners on the sofa, instead we will...

Location

Do you have a separate dining room?

If your date for valentine's day is your husband or wife, then close that door.   Ban them for the room.  That will give you time to get it prepared.

If you do not have a separate dining room, have you considered sending your date out for the day?

If you have the money, what about a day trip to a spa, with plenty of treatments?

That wouldn't appeal, OK, then there are other options...

  1. what about sending them on a trip to their favourite craft store,
  2. Go fishing
  3. Visit the cinema for the latest chick flick or action film

Now perhaps this is your usual date, and you are looking for something different, you could consider...

  • A romantic picnic in the park at lunch time
  • A candlelit picnic in the evening
  • Dinner on the beach
  • Hiring a special hall or room

Once you have decided on the place.  You can then start to plan...

preparation

This mini-checklist, is how I go about setting out my table for an event...

  • Table covering - this could be a picnic blanket, but I like to have a table cloth covering the table for special occasions.  For Valentines, I have a lovely red table cloth!
  • Table centre - I like to work a table from the middle out.  So I would look for the perfect table centre.  This shouldn't be something too tall.  I would recommend a rose bowl filled with fresh roses.
  • Placemats - Some people use them, others do not.  Logically, think of the valentine dinner recipes, will they be served hot?  Would hot plates ruin the surface?  If so, then use a placemat!
  • Cutlery - Here's the time to get out your best.  Make sure that there are no water spots on it.  Not sure what goes where, then do review our page, which fork where?

  • Crockery - This is includes your side plates, when to use a salad bowl, dinner plate and how best to serve things such as a shrimp cocktail.
  • Glasses - Do you know the difference between a red and white wine glass? Should you have a water glass, or port glasses out?  It all depends on your meal plan, but you should have them set out in line with the courses they are meant for.

What rounds a meal off nicely, is a little momento for your loved one to keep and remember the day by.

If you are stuck for inspiration, you could turn this fantastic little pattern into your card or even use it for the front of your valentine dinner recipes menu!
